New Technology used in World War Two

Destroyer Z1-Z4

Description

Destroyer Z1 was made after the World War One in Germany. Germans broke the rules of the Treaty of Versailles, as German destroyer was made even bigger than other destroyers in Allied forces during the time. They were made in 1934 by a German builder Deutsche Werk. The destroyer were used in WWII to fight against the Allied forces on sea. (*There were many other destroyer Z's up till Z16 but were built by different manufacturers*)

Improvements

-Destroyer Z (1 to 16) class had ships made heavier for more storage and people

-Speed(**main thing**)

-In Service: Z1 to Z3= 1935-1940 ; Z4=1935-1945

Intended Purpose

Destroyer Z class was built to protect the other German Fleets for better advantages of winning in battles. During the battles, they were sent out to explore and investigate areas. Exploring areas gave them advantages that would help them win in the battles. They destroyed enemy convoys to interrupt the Allied forces from getting supply ships. Destroying the convoys was a big part they did because it helped the Germans to interfere Allied forces. But destroyers Z1-3 were destroyed while they were in battles as Z4 the last destroyer Deutsche Werk built was given to the British after WWII.

How Destroyer shaped the War

They interfered the Allied forces from getting the needs they needed during the wars because destroyers destroyed the convoys which only left the supply ships to attack. Instead of getting the German fleets interrupted by the enemy navies, destroyers protected the fleets and had better chance of attacking the enemy. Since the destroyers acted like defenders, they had greater chances of defending their fleets from other navies. The torpedoes and mines had the main roles in sea water as they fired into the ocean. The bombs made the Allied forces difficult to attack.

How the war shaped them

WWII shaped the destroyers by manufacturing heavier and faster ships. They were able to store more ammunition which increased the war success rates. They needed better engines to make ships aim better and explore faster. If the manufacturers made the weight heavier meant the horse power to be faster. Manufacturers had problems making the horse power faster so they could not manufacture the ship that had heavier weight. The weight and speed were balanced to be manufactured. Getting more ammunition was a better tactics in some battlegrounds since the destroyers were ready to use them.

Lasting Effects caused by the destroyers

Germans having hugest destroyers did not last long. The Allied forces tried to make bigger and stronger destroyers. They also built other kinds of battle ships so that they will be able to destroy German destroyers. Manufacturing bigger and stronger destroyer was a mistake because they did not have better materials to make better battle-ships by the time the Allied forces built stronger destroyers.
